Hair Growth Stimulation
Hair loss can be treated in a number of ways :
1. Medications some as topical minomycin can be used or oral medication such as finesteride are effective for mild hair regrowth and prevention of follicular loss.
2. Follicular transplantation occurs by removing hair follicles from one area of the scalp and implanting them into another area. For more details please contact us
3. Platelet rich plasma can be used to stimulate hair growth and prevent follicular loss.
How if works :
Blood is taken in the same way as a blood test. This is centrifuged and the platelet rich plasma is removed and activating solutions are added. PDGF – platelet dermal growth factor, EGF-1 epidermal growth factor, FGF – fibroblast growth factor and TGF-B1 transforming growth factor B1 are all activated in the process.
The plasma and platelets are then injected into the skin resulting in a stimulation of the hair bulb and follicle leading to increased hair growth, increased hair thickness and preservation of the hair follicle.
This procedure increases the hair growth rate for hair already present. Stimulation of hair follicles that are dormant but still present results in new hair growth. The stimulation of these dormant hair follicles prevents their loss. Generally only one treatment is required with the new Angel PRP system
Side effects :
Slight swelling post injection is common and some bruising may occur. There is no risk of allergy. There is some discomfort with the injections which can be reduced in a number of different ways.
Hair loss treatment costs will depend on the size of the area treated. If the Angel PRP system is used the cost will be from 1200 for partial scalp treatment and up to 2500 for a whole scalp treatment.
