Pigmentation
Skin Pigmentation and Freckle elimination
How it works :
Laser treatments can result in reabsorption of pigment leaving the skin blemish free . Light energy is absorbed by pigmented cells and destroyed. The pigment is released and absorbed by the body.
Fraxel Er Yag laser can be used for more minor pigmentation. For darker skin types and more substantial pigmentation Q switched Nd Yag laser can be used.
Effects :
Areas commonly treated include – face, decolletage and hands resulting in a blemish free even skin tone.
Side Effects :
Darker skin types can result in hyperpigmentation from laser treatments. Redness, local irritation and minor burning can occur. The area usually becomes darker over 3-5 days and subsequently there is minor skin peeling. The skin lightening effects take place over 2-3 weeks. 2-3 sessions are usually required. Rarely hypertrophic scarring can occur.
Costs :
This is dependant on the size of the area treated and the extent of the pigmentation. Cost per session $100-600. 2-4 sessions may be required.
