For new patients a consultation is required. A full face consultation will be conducted to highlight the benefits of this and other treatments. There is no additional charge (above medicare) for the consultation if treatment is purchased on the day. Special applies to new patients only.
In the event of unexpected heavy demand, appointments may have to be delayed or rescheduled if our supplies of anti wrinkle injection are exhausted.
How it works:
Anti wrinkle Injections are effective in reducing dynamic facial wrinkles. The medication binds to the neuromuscular receptors and prevents the nerve signal reaching the muscle. The amount of reduction is dependent on how much is used.
Effects:
Facial wrinkles such as Crows feet, Frown lines and Forehead lines can all be reduced or eliminated Brow lifts can achieve a widening effect on the eye or reduced eye lid droopiness. Anti wrinkle medication can also be used to lift the corners of the mouth, and to reduce the skin crease between the bottom lip and the chin. Those suffering from Temporal Mandibular Joint syndrome from excessive teeth grinding can have their masseter muscles injected to reduce headaches and joint pain. This can also be performed to change the facial shape and jaw line. Those suffering excessive sweating can have injections into the skin to stop or reduce sweating. The medication can also be infused into the skin via channels created from fractionated laser resulting in less pain.
Side Effects
There is some minor discomfort with the injections. Minor redness and swelling will occur and last 1/2-1 hour. The effect will take 4-6 days to be effective and will last 3-4 months. Some patients have noticed that 4-5 days after injection, a minor reaction with slight dizziness and tiredness can occur. This lasts around 24 hours and is similar to the onset of a cold. Bruising may occur particularly around the eyes. This can be reduced by using ice at the time of the procedure. Medications such as asprin, antiinflammatories, vitamin E and ginko biloba can increase bruising. Eyelid drooping or a lopsided smile can occasionally occur with certain regions treated and can last 1-2 weeks, but is rare.
