Abdominalplasty

How it works :

A transabdominal incision is used and the excess fat and skin apron is removed under tumescent anaesthesia and sedation. A large scar however results from this procedure. This is also know as a Tummy Tuck.

Effects :

The body can be sculpted to remove unwanted areas of fat and skin particularly where there is an abdominal roll.

Side Effects

Minor bruising after the procedure is common. There is usually some pain for 4-6 days after the procedure. Bleeding may occur however this is uncommon. Seroma (inflammatory fluid) is common and drains may be used post operatively. Infection may occur and swelling is common after the procedure. In some individuals this lasts 1-2 weeks and has been known uncommonly to last 2-3 months.

Cost : This will depend on the size of the fatty apron.

The range is $2000-$3000 for skin only minor tuck under local anaesthesia
For larger fatty aprons the range is $4000-$8000 plus hospital and anaesthesia costs.
